Why Do Mornings Matter?

That beautiful time in the morning before kids, work, or other responsibilities is OUR time. Whether it’s 15 minutes or 2 hours.

It’s dedicated solely to nourishing or setting us up for success.

And, as a result of setting the foundation, it makes it so much easier to reach our big beautiful goals.

Often a great morning is the difference between an average day and a successful one; quite possibly between an average life and an exceptional one.

Our bodies are extremely dehydrated in the morning. It’s been 8 hours since drinking anything!

So, do your body a favor and start the day off by downing a glass of water.

It’s an easy way to be on the right path to drink enough throughout the day, and you’ll wake up with so much more energy to accomplish other tasks.

10 powerful things to do in the morning

Live by design, not by default.

This could be writing your goals down for the day, choosing your top three priorities, or visualizing what you want to happen.

If we don’t have a plan for ourselves, we will NEVER get to where we want to be!

Consider this: just because you are busy, doesn’t mean you’re doing anything that moves you forward. Often, we get caught up in the menial.

Make sure you’re working towards what matters to YOU, and not just spinning a hamster wheel. Of all the things to do in the morning, this is the most crucial!

This could be an actual workout, or it could just be doing 5 pushups or a light stretch. The point is to wake your body up and get your blood flowing first thing in the morning.

Even if the rest of the day turns out to be awful, and you don’t get a real workout in, you’ll know that you did something to move your body.

I was SO skeptical of this one. Like, I used to perversely enjoy keeping my bed unmade. But then I read so much about the benefits of starting the day with this tiny action.

Not only does it miraculously make your personal space more organized, but it gets your momentum going in the morning by accomplishing something right away.

It puts you in the right mindset to tackle other tasks. It took a while, but now I’m a believer.

This one is so essential to start the day off right.

What you eat first thing in the morning sets the tone for the rest of the day! So make it something that does your body good. Try oatmeal with fruit, eggs and veggies, or a simple smoothie.

If you stray later, at least you know that you took care of yourself in the morning!

Speaking as a mom, building a family has only magnified the need to carve out morning time in a way that is best for me. I’m not sure I could function without it.
