Day 1: Write 3 Positive affirmations and say them aloud.

First and foremost, we improve the way we talk to ourselves!

So, pick three self-love affirmations that resonate with you. Then write them down. (Or see this free ebook). Then, tape them to your shower or somewhere you see them often.

Then commit to saying them every morning for the next 30 days.

“I am exactly who I need to be.”

Day 2: List 10 things you love about yourself.

Today is straightforward! Make a list of 1-10 and write ten things that make you unique. What are your strengths? What do you love about your body? Or the way you think?

Don’t let yourself stop until you have ten. Now look over that list. You’re pretty awesome, aren’t you!

Day 3: Say thank you to five body parts in the mirror today.

Women, especially, criticize our bodies like it’s our job. So, today give it the love it deserves.

And don’t just stop there. Say thank you and continue with because _______.

For example: Thank you legs, for giving me the ability to walk, to chase my babies, to do yoga, etc.

Day 4: Say no.

Show yourself respect today and say no to something you don’t want to do. It’s ok to have boundaries that protect your peace of mind and self. So, use them.

Day 5: Do something you are really good at.

Maybe you rock at putting together puzzles. Or you like math problems, or you leave everyone in the dust during a run.

Whatever it is, do it today, and marvel at your talent and strength.

Day 6: Engage in loving exercise.

Here’s the catch: today’s exercise is only for the sake of feeling good. Today, there are no expectations, no hitting a goal or a certain weight. You are moving your body because you enjoy how alive your body feels during and after.

It’s self-love, nothing else.

Day 7: List 5 things you love about your life.

love yourself challenge: list five things you love about life

Next, make a list and write down the great stuff about your life. What are you grateful for? What makes your life unique? What do you love about your job? Your family? Your home?

You created that, and it’s pretty cool!

Day 8: Change your environment in one way.

Today, do one thing to make your environment a happier place.

  • Post gratitude quotes
  • Add a plant
  • Light a candle
  • Display a sentimental item
  • Have a friend or family member over
  • Do something kind for a family member

This can be easy or challenging. But by the end of the day, you’ve got one additional thing that brightens your day.

Day 9: Turn off your phone and take a hot shower or bath.

Tonight, give your mind and body the love it needs.

Turn your phone off one hour early. And instead crawl into the bathtub or take a hot shower to unwind.

Day 10: Do an act of kindness.

Love on someone, and you’ll love on yourself too.

Here are a few ideas for acts of kindness:

  • Give someone a compliment
  • Thank someone for being a good _________ (friend, kid, spouse, etc.)

Day 11: Take a digital brea

Social media is wonderful, but it also leads us to compare ourselves to the small (often perfect) snippets of other people’s lives. And it’s a self-love trap that few can avoid.

So, today take a break. No social media.

Instead, spend that time connecting with the family and friends in your life that mean the most to you.

Day 12: Forgive yourself.

love yourself challenge: forgive yourself

Likely, you’ve made a mistake or two in the last few days. If you’re living fully, then this should be true!

Now, sit on your bed, and repeat:

“I forgive myself for mistakes made. I let them go.”

Day 13: Make a nourishing meal.

Just like with exercise, today is NOT to hit a certain goal.

Today, you make yourself a smoothie or salad to love on your body by feeding it the good stuff. Vitamins, minerals, and energy to finish out your day strong.

Healthy food and exercise are not punishment. They are self-love. Challenge yourself to see it this way.

Day 14: Buy yourself flowers.

Because you’re special. And you deserve beauty in your life. Every day.

Day 15: Write down 3 hard things you did today.

Often, we don’t give ourselves the credit we deserve. So, acknowledge the work you’ve been putting in and celebrate it.

Day 16: Journal one of these questions:

30 day self love challenge: journaling questions
  • What activities bring me joy?
  • When do I feel confident?
  • Am I letting go of my mistakes?
  • Did I show my body the love and praise it deserves today? How?
  • What fulfills me? Inspires me?
  • When was the last time I respected myself by setting a boundary or saying no?

By getting your thoughts down on paper, you’ll be digging deeper into what brings you joy and how well you are loving yourself.

Day 17: Compliment yourself in the mirror.

Or say I love you. And add a smile (whether you feel like it or not).

This takes five seconds, but you’ll be slowly shifting the focus to love and praise.

If you can, finish out the challenge with this every day!

Day 18: Schedule in 30 minutes of self-care time.

Today, make a non-negotiable self-love meeting with yourself.

Then, do something that makes you feel amazing. Read a book, listen to a podcast, take a nap, or walk with a friend.

  • “Shake it Off” – Taylor Swift
  • “Born This Way” – Lady Gaga
  • “Feeling Myself” – Nicki Minaj & Beyonce

Day 22: Create a Sunday self care routine.

At the end of every week, what do you do that recharges and reconnects you with what’s important?

Your routine may be an hour or 5 minutes.

  • Take a long nature walk
  • Make it a spa time (take a long shower, shave, do your nails, try a facial, etc.)
  • Make a cup of relaxing tea
  • Have “cuddle time” with a pet, partner, or kids
  • Take a nap
  • Get a massage
  • Cook or bake something with love
  • Call a friend or family member and catch up

Here’s more great self care Sunday ideas!

Day 23: Connect with nature.

Today, get outside for at least thirty minutes. Somewhere with nature’s beauty is ideal.

Then, touch a tree. Notice the local animals. And breathe in the fresh air.

If nature isn’t self-love, I don’t know what it is.

Day 24: Stretch for 10 minutes before bed.

stretch for 10 minutes before bed to love yourself

Pain and stiffness can often be remedied by regular stretching.

Tonight, find a short YouTube video or do your own stretches. Then, observe how much better your body feels before it lays down.

Day 25: List 5 things you’re grateful for.

Make a gratitude list of 1-5 ways you are blessed.

For more on becoming grateful, check out these posts:

Day 26: Write yourself a love note.

Or a full love letter!

What do you love about yourself? Write a short paragraph detailing it all. Then, tuck it in a drawer.

The next time you’re feeling low it will be there waiting for you.

Day 27: Connect with someone you love.

Those that love us see our best qualities and remind us of them. They also give us support on our down days.

So, spend quality time today with someone you care about (or at least call or text!)

Day 28: Do one thing that makes you feel good.

coffee and magazine

Anything at all. Laugh. Challenge yourself. Or relax.

Whatever your body, mind, and spirit need today, spend at least 10 minutes doing it.

Day 29: Declutter one thing.

Next, make space for yourself. Whether this is cleaning out your email, or tackling your work desk.

We all breathe a sigh of relief when things are a little tidier. So, give that gift to yourself.

Day 30: Re-frame something negative into the positive.

Congrats, you have showered so much love on yourself by the last day!

Finally, pay attention to your thoughts today. When you say something negative in your head, work hard to turn it around into a good thing.

This is the hardest one, but it’s also incredibly effective!

Bonus tips from Dr. Danielle Kelvas, physician and mental health expert:

“So long as women feel overweight, overwhelmed, and inadequate, they will purchase the next best product. This is job security for advertisers. Instead, I tell women to..

  • remove the magazines. Stop watching commercials and TV. Eliminate the negative noise.
  • For those who have suffered abuse, counseling is necessary.
  • Get a journal and each day list 5 things that you are thankful for.
  • After doing this for a few weeks, start adding 1 or 2 lines of things that you like about”
