Christmas Secret Mission Game: Fun Ways to Mix It Up

Mix things up with different game variations to keep the Christmas Secret Mission game feeling fresh and fun, year after year and party after party!

Mission Difficulty Levels

Sort the cards into Easy, Medium, and Hard piles, then let each guest choose a mission based on how daring they feel. Easy missions are quick and simple, while the hard missions require a little more confidence and creativity. This way, shy guests can ease into the fun while the more outgoing players can take on bigger challenges!

Team Missions

Turn the game into a team challenge by pairing up guests: parents and kids, siblings, friends, or people who don’t know each other well. Give each duo a secret mission to complete together, such as getting a group selfie or convincing someone to sing a Christmas song. It’s a fun, sneaky way to get people mingling and create connections between guests who might not normally interact.

Be sure to give your duo or group a festive Christmas team name!

The Double Agent Twist

Slip in one or two “Double Agent” cards whose secret mission is to try to guess who else has a mission card. If they guess correctly, they steal that person’s points (or card). This adds a layer of social deduction to the game and keeps everyone people-watching all night.

Round-Based Missions

Break the game into short 20-minute rounds at different points throughout the party, giving everyone a new mission each round. Shorter rounds keep everyone engaged and give players a fresh challenge without taking over the party.

Pro Tip: This works especially well for larger groups or parties with kids. Attention spans can be short and a single mission may get forgotten in the middle of all the holiday excitement.

Mission Reveal

Wrap up the game with a mission reveal! Go around the room and have everyone share their secret mission and reveal whether they successfully pulled it off. If you’re playing for fun, that’s all you need!

Make the game even more exciting with a little holiday competition! Give a prize to the overall winner or hand out fun awards for different categories like “Smoothest Operative,” “Most Creative Mission,” or “Most Obvious Spy.”

Fun Christmas Prize Ideas

  • The Golden Ornament: A silly ornament the winner gets to keep until next Christmas.
  • Santa’s Favorite: A small Christmas treat, candy, or hot chocolate gift.
  • The Champion’s Crown: A festive Santa hat or ridiculous holiday headband.
  • First Pick: Winner gets first choice of dessert, Christmas movie, or holiday game.
  • The Mystery Gift: Wrap up a small surprise prize and let the winner unwrap it.
  • Christmas Cash: A small gift card tucked inside a Christmas card.
