For each game below, you’ll find exactly what you need and how to play. Have fun connecting!
1. Birthday Cake Masterpiece
What you need: Cups and plates (we just used what we had)
How to Play: Stack paper cups and plates in alternating layers to create a “cake.” Vote on the best one after 60 seconds!
2. Gift Wrap Challenge
What you need: Gift wrap, tape, scissors, something small to wrap
How to Play: Wrap a small box or toy using only one hand in under a minute.
3. Candle Blowout
What you need: Small pieces of paper with candles drawn on them, a straw
How to Play: Use a straw to blow paper candle cutouts across a table. See how far you can move the candles in 60 seconds!
4. Sprinkle Sweep
What you need: Sprinkles, plate, small brush or broom, bowl or cup
How to Play: Sweep scattered sprinkles into a container using a small broom or brush.
To make it harder: Players can only use their non-dominant hand.
5. Sprinkle Blowout
What you need: Plate, sprinkles
How to Play: Using only your breath, blow sprinkles from one side of a plate to another.
To make it harder, blow sprinkles across a table or combine colors without using your hands.
6. Birthday Cup Pyramid
What you need: Birthday cups or bowls
How to Play: Build a pyramid using birthday cups before time runs out.
Make it harder: offer more cups and tell them they must use them all. To make it easier: Give fewer cups.
7. Birthday Cup Flip
What you need: Birthday cups
How to Play: Flip birthday cups from the table’s edge into an upright position.
8. Birthday Balloon Blowout
What you need: Balloon, candles, lighter/match, cookie or cake piece
Caution: This Minute to Win it Birthday Game includes fire. We had fun with it, but use safety precautions if you choose to do it.
How to Play: Players have one minute to blow up a balloon and use the air to blow out the candles.
9. Don’t Let It Drop!
What you need: 2-3 balloons
To give it a birthday theme, draw cake, presents, etc. on the balloons.
How to Play: Players must keep two or more balloons afloat without letting them touch the ground. They use their hands, breath, and quick reflexes to succeed in this challenge.
The catch? The balloons may not rest on any body part!
10. Pin the Balloon
What you need: Balloons
How to Play: Players must stick inflated balloons to a wall using static electricity (rub them on hair or clothing).
11. Cupcake Liner Challenge
*Great for younger kids!
What you need: A muffin pan and cupcake liners
How to Play: Players put all of the cupake liners in the pan in under a minute.
To make it harder: Have kids repeat a pattern of colors.
12. Birthday Candy Sort
What you need: Birthday candy, plates, cups or bowls
How to Play: Sort a mix of colorful candies (like M&Ms, gumballs, or Skittles) by color into separate cups.
13. Gumball Toss
What you need: Gumballs, bowls or cups
Tip: You can use anything small for this! Try marshmallows or popcorn if that’s what you have.
How to Play: Toss gumballs into a teammate’s cup from a distance. You could also use party hats!
14. Party Straw Relay
What you need: Any candy (we also did this game on Valentine’s Day and used conversation hearts)
How to Play: Players have one minute to transfer as many candy hearts from a table to a cup or bowl. The catch? They have to use the straw to move them.
Make it easier: If young kids find this hard, use a spoon or hands.
15. Birthday Hat Ring Toss
What you need: Birthday hats, glow-in-the-dark bracelets, or other party favors
How to Play: Toss bracelets onto cone-shaped birthday hats placed at varying distances. To make it harder, turn out the lights to toss the glow-in-the-dark bracelets!
16. Birthday Cookie Face

Cookie Face is a hilarious game where each child places a round cookie on their forehead (we like Oreos!). The objective is to move the cookie to their mouth using only facial muscles. It’s a race against time and gravity!
You can use birthday cookies to make it more festive.

- Players take their right hand and pinch their left earlobe.
- They take their left hand and place their finger on the end of their nose.
- Players then switch their left finger from their nose to pinch their right earlobe and their hand on their ear to their nose.
See who can repeat the pattern of alternating hands correctly in 60 seconds.
