Memories in the making
Good morning. I’ve been thinking about my family’s holiday traditions lately. And how they can be magical and messy all at the same time. But even when your time together doesn’t go perfectly, they’ll still be memories you cherish.

Which popular Christmas carol is also considered to be a lullaby?

Every year, at least once, I have a holiday tradition that goes beautifully in my head and then falls short in real life.
This year? We took the kids to see Santa last week, and they bickered with each other THE ENTIRE time. They fought in the car. Argued while walking into the store. And then picked at each other while waiting in line.
By the time we got back home, I yelled at everyone and then sent them to their rooms just to get a break.
It was undoubtedly NOT how I pictured this tradition going. But it’s ok.
Social media makes us think that if our traditions aren’t picture perfect, we’re doing something wrong.
But this is the human experience, not a highlight reel. Life isn’t perfect. It’s so much more than that.
It’s authentic. It’s real. It has challenging moments that are there to help us grow. It has downs that make the ups even more special.
So give yourself grace in the coming days while you celebrate your traditions. It’s most likely that your plans will go awry at some point. The important part is that you’re showing up. You’re focusing on experiences and memories.
And even though the reality can be messy, every moment together is still worth it.
