Make time for this

Good morning, and welcome back to the table.

It’s been a hot August, and I’m looking forward to cooler evenings. Leaves changing. Kids coming home hungry.

And those little conversations that happen when everyone is finally sitting around the same table.

Today’s newsletter is built around exactly those moments.

So, pull up a chair. And let’s begin.

What if the best thing about fall wasn’t the colors…but the conversations?

Try this tonight: If fall had a smell besides pumpkin, what should it be?

TABLE WISDOM

“The way you spend your time is the way you spend your life.”

Annie Dillard

The conversations that happen at the dinner table are where growth mindset actually lives.

These take what’s discussed there and make it stick

(One of my favorite growth mindset activities happens at our dinner table. While eating, everyone shares one “good,” and one “grit” from the day.)

My middle child tried to say it fast… but ended up in a fit of giggles instead. 🤪💬 These are the perfect addition to a dinner table that needs a little more laughter.

CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK

Make time for family dinners this week.

Not a Pinterest-worthy table. And definitely not a meal that takes two hours in the kitchen. 😂

Just pick a few nights (or more!) when everyone can sit down together for 20 minutes.

Put the phones away. Turn off the TV. And ask questions.

AFFIRMATION OF THE WEEK

We make time for what matters most.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

What would change in your family if you made more space for unhurried conversations?

WHAT’S TODAY?

Today is National I Love My Feet Day!

Celebrate with a relaxing soak, a cozy pair of socks, or a well-deserved foot massage.

TABLE TALK

Everyone has practice, so we can either have dinner at 4:30 or 9:00.

MORE FROM THE TABLE

The mornings that flow are the ones that make the evening dinner table possible. Set this system up now, before fall schedules get busy.

Kristine says, “My girls have worked with me to set up their schedules. Reminders to them are WAY less frequent! I feel less stressed and I am working on taking care of my own items now.”

20 minutes. Your closest relationships are worth it. So, make dinner together happen.

Thank you for pulling up a chair and being part of the table. I hope you enjoyed today’s edition. If you have anything at all you’d like to share, ask, or say, just hit reply. I’d love to hear from you.

I appreciate you!
