Make Room Now

Good morning, and welcome back to the table.

Back-to-school has a way of making you notice just how much stuff has accumulated over the summer.

Clothes that don’t fit. Papers nobody needs. Toys nobody plays with. Water bottles without lids.

And 47 random things that apparently belong to no one.

Before the school year gets busy, let’s make a little room.

Not just in the closets and cabinets, but in our homes, mornings, and minds.

Today we’ve got a fun way to connect with your kids, a back-to-school breakfast tradition, and a simple challenge to clear out the clutter.

Pull up a chair. Let’s make some space.

CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK

Declutter for the school year. (Or for fall in general)

Sometimes making space is more valuable than adding something new.

We spend so much time looking for the next thing that will make life better.

A new planner, activity, toy, or system.

But sometimes the answer is subtraction.

One less pile.

One less overflowing drawer.

One less thing shouting for your attention.

A little space gives you room to breathe. And when your home feels calmer, it’s often easier to be the person you want to be.

You don’t have to organize everything.

You just have to remove what’s no longer serving you.

Don’t wait for a giant free weekend that probably isn’t coming. 😂

This week, choose one small area each day and clear out what you no longer need.

AFFIRMATION OF THE WEEK

Creating space creates calm.

Want a little guidance?

Start with this 7-day challenge below. It begins with your kitchen.

Karen says, “I used the decluttering challenge and shared it with both of my daughters. It worked wonders and Goodwill certainly benefited!

Or you can follow last week’s August organization calendar. (The free pdf was in Monday’s newsletter titled “Fresh Start”)

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

What could you let go of this week that would make your home, and your life, a little lighter?

WHAT’S TODAY?

It’s National Lazy Day. It’s the perfect reminder that rest is productive, too!
