6 New August Goals: What I’m Aiming for This Month (+ Wrapping Up July!)
Hi there! This series shares my goals, bucket list items, and progress made every month.

1. Continue Training for My First Half Marathon
I just finished up week 8 of training. The biggest challenge lately is finding time and space to run around summer trips, now that the runs are getting longer. It definitely takes coordination to do it around family time too.
The half marathon is scheduled for September 14th 🙂
July Goal Wrap Up: Check off at Least 4 Things From the Summer Bucket List With the Kids
Would you like to save this idea?
- Visit the Farmer’s Market. DONE.
- Colorado hiking. DONE.
- Get my daughter’s ears pierced. DONE.
- Make s’mores
- Make BLTs. DONE.
- See a sunrise or sunset. DONE.
- Paint rocks and put them out on the nearby trail
We didn’t check everything off our list, but we did a lot in general.
2. Organize for Back to School
I’ll be printing out and doing the August organization calendar! I do it every year, and it helps with feeling ready for the school year again!
3. Do the Monthly Reading Challenge
My summer fun book for July was Happy Place by Emily Henry. It’s about a couple who broke up months ago, but can’t stand to tell their best friends. So, while on vacation, they play the part.
It was the perfect book to take on vacation! A quick, witty, and romantic read that kept my attention the whole time. I’ll be checking out another book in the series for my August reading challenge!

Wrapping Up My July Goal: Feel Better
My July goal was to work on my thoughts and get back to feeling calm. To do this, I added in
- Meditation/quiet time
- Yoga moves or stretching every day
- Writing or positive affirmations
And while these helped, truthfully, the biggest difference was the trip to Colorado we took. It was to a mountainside cabin with almost no cell service and awe-inspiring views. I realized that after just two days, most of my anxiety disappeared.
Now I just need to figure out how to transfer that sense of ease to my daily life with work and kids. But for now, I feel 1000x better.
4. Watch a Documentary or Inspiring Movie (12 for the Year)
I’ve watched 6/12 for the year. So far, I’ve seen:
- King Richard (Based on the true story of Serena and Venus Williams)
- Jiro Dreams of Sushi
- The Greatest Love Story Never Told (Jennifer Lopez)
- Save My Squad (David Beckham)
- The Race to Alaska
- The Greatest Showman
If you have any recommendations of documentaries you’ve loved, please let me know in the comments!
July Wrap Up: Do a Freezer Challenge
I finished the Freezer Challenge on Wealthy Woman Finance.
5. Do the “Find Extra $ Challenge”
I’m not sure what this will look like yet, but I think it’s going to be one that’s really fun!
6. Visit a New Coffee Shop Every Month
I didn’t get one in for July, but I visited two in June.
I’ve been to 6/12 for the year.
I’ll update you twice a month (beginning & end) to share how I’m doing with these goals.
