I cuddled with the kids to watch National Treasure last weekend (as part of the awesome Family Night Club).

As a teen, this movie made me look for hidden clues in everyday objects for months. Cereal boxes, junk mail – you name it and I hoped for a mystery to solve.

So, watching my kids’ reactions to the movie was priceless. At one point they jumped off the couch to pace the room, while making wild predictions about what would happen next.

It reminded me of how much a good story can make you see something with fresh eyes. Or challenge what you thought you knew.

And it’s so much fun sharing a piece of your history with your kids – even when it’s just in the form of an older movie.

I’m certain my kids will never look at the Declaration of Independence in the same way again. And now we’ll all go looking for treasure together. 😉

What movie has made you see something in a new way?
