After a hectic few weeks, I’ve been feeling burnt out. So, over the weekend, I drew a line down the middle of a piece of paper. On the left, I wrote “no”. On the right -“Yes.”

Here’s what my “no” section looks like:

No to…

  • eating after 7:15 pm (we’ve been eating dinner too close to bed)
  • extra work just for the sake of working
  • ______ (name of person who always makes me feel bad)
  • digital devices on Sunday

And the list goes on.

Now, this doesn’t mean I won’t do these things. But I need to think long and hard before I say yes to anything in this column.

And you know what?

I felt better immediately. I redefined boundaries. And gave myself new parameters that were in the best interest of my health and family.

Maybe it’s time for you to make a not-to-do list. Try it and tell me how it goes!
