Celebrate Women’s History Month With a Book
March is Women’s History Month.
This is a national celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture, and society.
The custom of honoring influential women began with just one day in 1909. It eventually became a week long celebration, and in 1987, Congress established March as Women’s History Month.
So each March, we honor the work of women who forged the way before us as well as the women role models in our lives.
Furthermore, the Women’s History Month theme for 2023 is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories”.
I can’t think of a better reason to read a book by a female author for our March women’s reading challenge.
From fictional characters to real-life stories, there are many amazing books told by female authors.
