Last month I read….
Would you like to save this idea?
For the August reading challenge, I read book two of the Fourth Wing series, Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros.
Violet Sorrengail has survived her first year at Basgiath War College, but the real trials are just beginning. As she uncovers a centuries-old secret, even her dragon might not be enough to protect her from what’s to come.
My overall thoughts?
The book is packed with action, character growth, and plenty of twists, keeping readers hooked from start to finish. I found it easier to get into than the series’ first book, though I needed some motivation to push through this hefty read!
I recommend this series for fantasy lovers who aren’t intimidated by large books!
This month, I’ll be reading…
The September reading challenge is to read a mystery.
I’m continuing with the second book in the Dublin Murder Squad mysteries, The Likeness by Tana French.
Amazon summary for The Likeness: Cassie Maddox has transferred out of the Dublin Murder Squad—until an urgent telephone call brings her back to an eerie crime scene. Suddenly, Cassie is back undercover, to find out not only who killed a young woman, but, more importantly, who she was. (*Read In The Woods first!)

Kids Reading Challenge
For the September reading challenge, the kids are also diving into a mystery.
Check out popular mystery books that will have your kids eagerly asking, ‘Who done it?'”
We just finished The Absent Author, the first book in the A to Z Mysteries series by Ron Roy. We had a blast trying to solve the mystery together, and no one wanted to put it down!
I’m hoping one (or both) of my boys will be inspired to pick up the next book on their own.
Pro tip: Start a series by reading the first book (or chapter) together. It’s a great way to get kids of all ages hooked on the story!
And use our book lists for each age to help pick award-winning and popular kids’ books. There are tons of series ideas on each list.
Enjoy reading GREAT books this month!
